Hello, I'm a new user evaluating the MaxiDAS DS708.

I was looking at the Durametic scanner that is more Porsche specific software.  My inquiries to Autel said that the 708DS would do all the functions the Durametric would do, plus the benefit of other manufacturers which is a bonus for me and that is why I am taking a serious look/consideration of this device.

As you can tell, my focus work is on Porsche vehicles.  I was told by Autel that the 708DS can reset Tiptronic Transmission adaptions and throttle body adaptations etc etc and again one of the main reasons for getting this device.

I have gone deep into the 708DS but cannot find where that reset adaptation functions are located/hidden and a bit concerned that it cannot do what Autel confirmed it could.

I'd like to hear also others with regards to their experiences with this device as I'm currently on the fence whether or not I am going to keep this based on what it can and cannot do.  I'm hearing that this device is end of life and support for it will be coming to an end shortly and its legal litigations, etc etc  do not give me piece of mind.

     Hi ede65,
Thank you for the time to help with some answers to my questions.  As far as the Durametic software features and capabilities, please see link http://www.durametric.com/modelfeaturematrixv6.aspx

Let me know how durametric compares to the DS708

Yes, the Maxisys is nice, but looking at between $1,700.00 to $3,000.00 depending on model which is a bit steep for me.  I'm a shady tree mechanic working on my own autos as well as my friends and family... Coding and programming is nice, but have not run into the need yet for this. However, resetting adaptations is key for me at this time.

Do you have the information on how to reset Adaptations for the Porsche Tiptronic and throttle body?  Again, I've dove pretty deep with the software and cannot locate the funtion/feature to reset it.  I have submitted a support ticket on it but yet to hear back from Autel on it.

     Hi ede65

I do not see a "down arrow" under the Porsche logo off the main "European" screen

If I select the logo, it takes me into running the Auto or Manual scan.

Im running  System Program Version 6.33
    Firmware Version 1022
    Hardware Version 3.60

Yes, I'm still waiting on an answer from tech support, it has been a couple of days since I entered in a request

    Thanks again for your assistance

I'm starting to think that Autel presales/tech support gave me incorrect information when I requested if  resetting adaptations specifically on Porsche vehicles was capable on the 708DS.  Still no one has answered my support request that I left several days ago and is still open in queue.

Help!  I would prefer not to return unit and have to purchase the Durametric, but I may have to if this drags out any longer
